Art is all around us. From the exquisite foods we eat to the breath taking sculptures around the world. Every single person is connected to art in one way or another, whether you are alone in your room, jamming to your favorite song, or a world renowned painter. It is a humongous part of our lives, and has been for thousands of years, however, as the years go by, colleges have pushed aside the arts. Some colleges put a few â€Å"introduction to art† classes as optional elections, and others have ignored the fine arts altogether. However, it is essential that the arts be part of every college student’s education. Throughout history, people have appreciated and respected the arts, yet today it is something looked at as an option which people can choose to take. In college, you are obligated to take classes like, history, science, English, and math. With that said, â€Å"The American public, by an overwhelming margin, believes the arts are vital to a well-rounded educatio n; more than half rate the importance of arts education a â€Å"ten† on a scale of one to ten.†(Sandra S. Ruppert). However, no college student is obligated to take an introduction class to dance, drawing, music, or drama. Although it has been proven many times, students involved in some type of art form, do better in school, many colleges do not offer these classes.
